Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.
My courses aim to give candidates as much quality learning as possible. As a passionate climber myself, I've also taught others for 14 years, and really enjoy enabling others to progress in their work and personal climbing life.
Courses are female led, and gender inclusive. There will be lots of open discussions in a supportive environment, and I always aim to make everyone feel welcome, and provide an atmosphere that gets the absolute best out of people.
You'll be taken through the key elements of becoming a safe and highly skilled Rock Climbing Instructor, and have lots of opportunity to practise throughout the course. We'll look at teaching and developing others as well as being a safe instructor, and you'll leave with a clear action plan and feedback moving forward.
We'll meet indoors on the first morning of the course for an informal chat about how the course will run, and then use single pitch crags around the north Lakes, and visit a climbing wall for the indoor element.
Car shares can arranged, or pick ups from Keswick if you are arriving by public transport.
Cost includes climbing wall entry for the indoor element.
