Award Description
The Hill and Moorland Leader award is designed for people who want to lead groups in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. This award is a wonderful opportunity to learn the leadership skills required to feel confident about taking people out walking. As you may have guessed from the descriptive title of this award, it focuses on non-mountainous terrain.
Our courses are informative and fun; whether training or assessment we aim to ensure you leave more knowledgeable, skilled and a better leader as a result of the experience.
Assessment: The 3-day assesses candidates in line with the Hill and Moorland Leader Syllabus. The course is very practical and is conducted in the environment you may expect to take groups. To attend you must have completed training or been granted assessment and have recorded the prerequisite experience on DLOG.
The course is run on Dartmoor, making the best of stunning scenery and fantastic walking available. Over three days the syllabus will be covered through practical exercises, scenarios and discussions as well as a pre-course home paper which will need completing prior to the course start.
