Royal Geographical Society Offsite Safety Management Course.

The Off-Site Safety Management course (OSSM) was designed in response to concerns about safety in off-site activities. It addresses the content of legislation in this area and provides an opportunity for attendees to explore the application of the legislation in practical situations. The OSSM course will be appropriate for those working in a range of different situations where they are responsible for taking children/young people/adults out of their everyday environments (e.g. on geography or environmental field trips, on sporting away events,
on organised activities). It aims to equip attendees with the ability to apply knowledge, understanding and problem solving skills in a range of contexts.

More information can be found here: https://www.rgs.org/RGS/media/RGS-Media-Library/Events/2019/2-OSSM-Curriculum.pdf

Please bring a pen and pencil, the pre-training tasks and also a packed lunch and beverages.

The in-person course will be delivered at Queen Margaret University. There is a train station opposite the university, with good transport links by train, bus and car.

The workshop will be delivered by Suzie Dick. Suzie is a lecturer in education at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.  She holds an MSc in Managing Sustainable Mountain Development and also an MSc in Advanced Educational Studies. Her first love is all things mountains and is the former Scotland rep for the British Association of International Mountain Leaders and is a member of her local mountain rescue team. All bookings  directly to Suzie.

The workshop cost is £50 for BAIML members which is a special price that Suzie is offering for members. £100 for non-members.

Once the workshop has been completed, please allow two weeks for CMS to be updated to reflect your attendance. This will be done automatically so you do not need to add the CPD yourself. Please bring your MT registration number with you to the workshop for the attendance form.
