About

WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Northern Cairngorms are a unique landscape and environment within the UK. A relic left over by the last glaciation, it is a gold mine of periglacial. fluvio-glacial and glacial landforms. There are few glacial environments so accessible to walkers.

This day seeks to introduce you to some of the unique landforms to be found in the Cairngorms, and not just the usual ones.

We will be walking around the Northern Corries and hopefully, weather permitting looking down into the Loch Avon Basin. During the day, we will see several different landforms from glacial erosional and depositional and post-glacial periglacial and weathering

This day is ideal for Mountain Leaders and for Mountain Instructors and Guides who work in this geomorphological rich environment and have an interest in what they see and how it formed.

By the end of the day you will be able to recognise and identify new landforms and explain how they got there.
