I have been walking the British Isles since the early nineties. Since 2014 I have been leading walks and putting new tours together for German tour operators (specialised on walking tours: www.boundless-reisen.de, www.highländer-reisen.de) mostly in Britain and partly in Ireland.
So for 6 years out of the last 8 years (nothing happend in 2020 and 2021 thanks to Covid) I have been pretty much walking 5 days a week from April til October, either leading walks or doing recce for new walks. Most of them are Lowland walks, most of them are in Britain, some in Ireland. Up until 2017 I also did a few weeks of walking tours in Iceland each summer. 2014-2016 I spend the winters in New Zealand as a driver-guide for walking tours, so also leading tours and walks whilst there. Iceland (groups up to 8 pax) and New Zealand (up to 13 pax) were camping holidays, Britain (up to 16 pax) and Ireland (up to 18 pax) are with hotel accommodation.
In 2020 I moved from Germany to Britain and started to work on my British qualifications for leading walks based here. In 2021 I passed the assessment for the Lowland Leader Award and started training for the Hill and Moorland Leader Award, which I hope to be assessed for mid of March 2022. I am very lucky to be based in the Brecon Beacons.
