Personal trad climbing between 2010 until current. First explored trad climbing in Cornwall with my first leads at Bosigran. As a keen member (then president) of the university mountaineering club I became quickly involved with teaching climbing and multipitch skills. When in Cornwall, I would frequently climb several times a week on crags such as Chair Ladder, Sennen and Bosigran. Highlights from Cornwall include Anvil Chorus and Little Brown Jug on Bosigran, South Face Direct, Detergent Wall, the Terrier's Tooth (pre and post rockfall) on Chair Ladder. Since leaving Cornwall and moving to Cumbria, I have completed many routes in the Lake District, including training for and an attempt at a Lakes Classic Rock Round. Personal Highlights of Lake District climbing include The Grand Finale on Gimmer, Totalitarian on Raven Thirlmere; Arcturus, Cascade, the Bracken Clock and Golden Slipper on Pavey Ark, with various routes on White Ghyll Crag. On Scafell, Hell's Groove, Moss Ghyll Grooves. Further afield, Scottish highlights include Integrity in Coire Laggan, Pinnacle Ridge on Sgurr Nan Gillean, a 7 hour traverse of the Cuillin Ridge, The YoYo on Aonach Dubh Glencoe, and exploring some of the sea cliffs on the Moray Coast. In Pembroke, personal highlights are Threadneedle Street, The Heart of Darkness, Cupid's Bow, Snozwanger and Blue Sky. Trad climbing outside of the UK, personal highlights include a trip to Uskedal in southern Norway, climbing long granite routes (from 250 to 850m long). Highlights were Bob Roger, Silkeveien, Apenbaringen, UskPjusk. In the Ecrins, the Berthet route on the Aiguille Dibona (leading 2 non climbers up and down the route) and Les Sources du Silence (850m) on the Aiguille de la Plat de la Selle. In Switzerland, Modern Times and Via Meuli on Punta Albigna.
Recently, in preparation for the MCI, I have been taking friends (mock clients) out on multipitch VS 4c routes when appropriate.
Through my work as a freelance instructor and a teacher of Outdoor Education, I have led numerous single pitch sessions in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, in addition to indoor sessions. My logbook appears not to have imported correctly from UKC - some single pitch routes are listed as multipitch and vice versa, some routes are missing.
