International Mountain Leader Award
(Equivalent To International Mountain Leader) Date of Award : 03/09/2008 Result : Pass Provider : Plas y Brenin (UK)

This award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead parties in mountainous areas, including snow-covered Nordic type terrain of the “middle” mountains but excluding via ferratas, glaciers and terrain requiring alpine techniques. The IML builds on the ML award, which candidates must hold. To operate professionally outside the UK, IML-holders must be a member of an association such as BAIML. This qualification was originally known as European Mountain Leader and was revised in 2006. It ceased to exist in this format in 2009.

Mountain Leader (Winter) Award
Date of Award : 18/02/2008 Result : Pass Provider : Glenmore Lodge This award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead walking groups in winter conditions in the mountains. The use of crampons & axes is covered in the scheme. It builds on the skills acquired in the ML award, which candidates must hold to access the ML(W) scheme.

Foundation Coach

Foundation Coaches will usually be concerned with the stimulating delivery of a single session to a group of individuals. Registering for this award will also register you for the Development Coach element of the Coaching scheme.

Climbing Wall Award

This award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. The CWA does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

Climbing Wall Award Abseil Module
Date of Award : 02/02/2011 Result : Pass Provider : Joby Davis The Climbing Wall Award Abseil (CWAA) module, is an optional module undertaken by those involved in the Climbing Wall Award scheme. It's aim is to train and assess people responsible for supervising abseiling from climbing walls. Some Climbing Wall Award Providers will offer the Abseil Module as part of the main training course if the facility they are planning to use is appropriate.
SPA
Single Pitch Award
(Equivalent To Rock Climbing Instructor) Date of Award : 20/06/1997 Result : Pass Provider : Keith Fleming

This award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by an SPA holder will be roped climbing and bouldering. The SPA does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

Established in 1964, this was the first award created.
