Description

ACTIVITY
Hill Walking and Scrambling
REGION
Scotland
AREA
Perthshire
DESCRIPTION OF ROUTE:
The Tarmachan Ridge
Another late start missing most of the morning rain. I left the car at 13:00hrs, I made my way up the track from the car park leading its way up to the summit of Meall nan Tarmachan. The path steepens quickly towards the summit. The rain was on and off through the afternoon and the cloud dropped a couple of times while I was making my way along the Ridgeline. There was a short scramble involved in the descent of the pointed top of Meall Garbh. But this was over before it had really begun. I followed the Ridgeline along all the way to the summit of creag na caillich and then made my way down to the land rover track which winds its way back around to the car park. The route took me 5hrs.

Area : Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay (Ben Lawers)

This area covers the peaks to the north and east of Crianlarich. Glen Lyon forms the northern boundary while the road from Crianlarich to Aberfeldy is the southern boundary. The Ben Lawers group in the east of this area includes seven separate peaks, all Munros, which are part of an impressive 12km ridge line. The western side of this area is generally lower and not as steep but does still home some a number of Munros. All major peaks above 600m are included in the mountains list. The area to the north is Loch Rannoch to Glen Lyon.
