Volta Region
Hike through the Hills of the Volta Region with a group of students from Abuja, Nigeria. The expedition was part of their Silver International award. The challenge was to navigate on old maps sourced from RGS dating back to a 1929 survey. The team camped and we planned our route day to day. While it was ok navigating by using the contours and relief of the terrain the biggest challenge was finding a way through the thick tropical woodland and undergrowth on very narrow tracks over some big drops. Moreover it was important for the team to "lead" the expedition. All in all pretty challenging but really rewarding.
