Ascended Blencathra via Halls Fell. Weather was perfect! no a hint of a wind and glorious sunshine!
Route traffic was moderate.
Route ascending steeply up Halls fell, with some rewarding views the higher you got. After a slog up the fell, I eventually made it to Halls Fell Upper Crest. Even as a Grade 1 Scramble, I found this ridge particularly interesting and it did keep me on my toes! Figuratively and literally! After a mis-step, resulting in a small slip. I realised that the rock wasn`t particularly stabile and nor was it brilliant for grippy foot holds. Hand holds were sharp, but no surprise there considering the geology of the mountain. I ascended keeping to the pinnacle of the ridge and after 20mins of careful route planning and assessing I made it to the summit! Total ascent from the car park took me 1hr 45minutes.
After a quick lunch, I assessed my route down (via Diddick fell) I had considered Sharp Edge, but figured I enjoy it more going up and would leave it for another venture. After a quick scramble down the start of Diddick and negotiating loose rocks and scree, I quick found the route evened out. Enough so, that I (stupidly might I add) decided that I could run it.
And run it I did! Made the total descend from summit to the gill, between Halls Fells and Diddick, on the valley floor in 25minutes.
Stupid idea and one that could have ended horribly. But it was fun!
After a water stop, I walked down to the road and then into Keswick.
