Description

10.00 - 17.30, 18km, 900m.
Light to moderate wind, freezing in valleys, bright sunshine with little cloud later. Stonethwaite, Rosthwaite Fell (High Knot) via Big Stanger Gill, Tarn at Leaves, Glaramara, Allen Crag, Sprinkling Tarn, Seathaite Fell, Styhead Tarn, Seathwaite, Strands Bridge, Stonethwaite. A fantastic day with 360° views of snow topped fells. Nicky did really well, did Sprinkling to Styhead Tarn on her own while I went over the fell.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
