Description

12.00 - 17.00, 5km, 430m. Howtown, Lake District.
Cloud base 700m, moderate winds with strong gusts, light rain, cold. Seven adults and two children. Howtown, Swarthbeck Gill, Arthur’s Pike, Howtown. I scrambled up Swarthbeck Gill (Grade 3), whilst rest of party went via Barton Fell, and met up at Arthur’s Pike. Descent via south-west bank of Swarthbeck Gill because Trish was tired and we could get out of the wind quickly.
