Description

Delayed Starting a little bit as the forecast was for the conditions to improve, Followed the path up to the col between cairn loch an and Stob Coire an t-sneachda and followed the ridge line to the summit of cairn Lohan. then descended to pick up the path across to Ben Macdui, walking was difficult due to winds of approx 30-40mph. The original plan was to descend to Loch Etchanchan and camp there but we felt it was to open and descending to camp outside the Hutchinson Bothy, which we used as a cooking shelter

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
