Working with a regular group of young people from SiMY Community Development as part of the Climb Scotland initiative. The aim of the group is to get each of the young people to the level where they can join GCC as members freeing space in the core class for another person. Other regular climbing sessions run with the school and under 12`s at SiMY feed into this group.
I am also working with the volunteers, ensuring that they are competent to supervise the young people, belay them and where necessary, get the adult volunteers ready for membership. Each session is overseen by a qualified instructor (myself), with at least 1 GCC member who has been through our induction session acting as an assistant to the instructor. Other adult volunteers who are not yet competent to join GCC are counted as part of the group, and supervised accordingly.
