Started at Glen Nevis Youth Hostel (128,718) and met the tourist tack at 160m contour. At path junction (147, 724), turned N/left, hand-railing E of Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe. The path aspect turned from NB to SE following North Face of Ben Nevis.
When reached Sheler, headed straight up the slope NEE to Carn Dearg Meadhonach, picking own line up steep scree and grass as no obvious/marked path. Followed the ridge SSE to Carn Mor Dearg. Was dipping in and out of clouds from here on.
Followed CMD Arete. When reached mass of Ben Nevis was in constant cloud. Occasional followed a path, but kept losing it so ensured there was sufficient inclining rock to my right as knew there was large crags.
Meet a shelter and as started to plateau, but knew wasn't the one marked on map. Took a bearing from wear marked path met 1330m contour. Followed this in till a more substantial shelter appeared. Kept following bearing in till saw outline of observatory.
From here tourist track down became obvious, but took bearing for first section as knew significant drop to right, but could not see it. Followed tourist track down, went over 400m of snow (couldn't see thought cloud to end off snow) and kept going down tourist track to youth hostel.
