Description

Half day scramble on Tryfan. Parked at Gwern Gof Uchaf and ascended to Tryfan`s East Face and onto the Heather Terrace. Ascended Terrace to base of Central gully scramble (Grade 1). Scrambled easily to small col which joins with the top of North Gully. A small upward slabwas too greasy to risk a fall, so contoured back into gully and thence to summit ridge. Easy scrambling to Tryfan summit and on to South Ridge via Far South Peak to main col below Bristly Ridge. Descended into Cwm Tryfan and track below terrace to car park.

The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
