We walked in from the Linn of Quoich along a track which had been seriously eroded by the river. Up onto Beinn Bhreac and then all the way around to Ben Avon taking in the four Munros. Navigation was straight forward enough as from the second Munro and across the bog, the sun started to break through the clag. We walked back along the S ridge of Ben Avon and down. Snow was ankle deep and extremely slushy. The descent from Beinn a` Bhuird was the only tricky bit!
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
