I set off from near Glenmore Lodge with Chris Smejkal up towards Ryovan Bothy. Just before the bothy we turned off right onto a separate track. The day was partially cloudy with a moderate wind but it was clear enough to see the long path snaking up to Bynack More in the distance. From the Bynack Stable, we turned off towards An Lurg and up onto the summit of Bynack More. For the return we went over the subsiduary southern top (A' Choinneach 1017m) and then turned NW down into Strath Nethy and back to Bynack Stable where we retraced our steps back to Glenmore Lodge and the car parked in the main car park on the Coire Cas road.
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
