Solo walk.
Parked in Kentmere by Church. Started walking at 9.30am. Headed north up land and onto pathway via The Nook. Headed west via Ewe Crags, did some topography/crag identification. At T-junction north of Sallows, headed north towards Buck Cragg and onto Yoke. Practiced pacings. Carried on to Ill Bell before heading back.
Weather, cloud base 300-500 meters. Wind, moderate to strong. Visibility poor to relatively good. Plan was to walk the whole horseshoe, however, I spent too much time at the base of the walk that I did not leave enough time to do the complete horseshoe.
Completed walk at 2.30pm.
Area :
Far Eastern Fells
Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
