Description

1 day running bushcraft / basic navigation skills for a youth support worker and one youth participant.
I set a basic route around the Stanway area, ensuring the route took in various aids for navigation - open flat land, good attack points, varying terrain etc.
The students had very different levels of knowledge on navigation - one had a good grasp of orientating the map and grid references, whilst the other was absolute basic - no knowledge of gridlines, orientating etc.
I managed to have a really nice walk with them both, giving each of them different tasks and applying themselves at their level of understanding. This was a really good teaching day for me as I haven`t managed to run as much navigation training as I would have liked recently.
This is a regular day now, but not a confirmed weekly event.
