Description

Bike 5km + 160m, 14km + 660m, bike 5km + 40m. Glen Callater, Lochnagar.
Bike from Auchalleter (09.30) to Lochcalleter Lodge (10.15), stalkers path most of the way up onto Carn An T-Sagairt Mor (12.40), followed the path towards Cairn Bannoch until we pealed south to Fafernie. Straight forward ground to the cairn of Creag Leachdach where there were lots of hare feet and owl like pellets but larger! We then headed towards Jock`s Road using some old snow to seep up the descent. A generally good path was followed back to the lodge where we got back on the bikes (16.00), passing various walkers on the way out to the van (14.15). Jen and I had tried to do this route on Monday but a lack of hydraulics on a rear disc made repairs much more important. We then headed into Braemar and a welcome rest at the Bothy Cafe.

Area : Braemar to Montrose (Lochnagar)

Listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The East Mounth: Glen Shee to Mount Keen’, this area includes all of the peaks to the south and east of the A93. Still part of the Cairngorms National Park, these mountains are home to the north facing crags on Lochnagar (1155m) and the most easterly Munro, Mount Keen (939m).
