Description

Taking a group of Yr9 pupils and teacher up Snowdon.
40mph winds and heavy rain meant we avoided Crib Goch, but some of the pupils had done Miners/Pyg before. Given the wind direction, we went for Y Lliwed. That proved very successful.
Lunch in group shelters on the col between Y Llwedd and Yr Wyddfa preceded the horrible shale plod up towards the main summit. On top it was 5C (but given wet and wind felt like -3C). Visibility above 500m was a couple of metres. The sudden shelter of reaching the top of the ZigZag was a great relief, as was the impressively-rebuilt path.
On the way down Pyg Track, one of the group badly twisted her ankle (turns out on talking to her dad on the 'phone she injures herself all the time). Strapped up and chilled in a stream, she was able to finish the descent to the hostel.
