Helping teach leading due to being rained off Symmond's Yat. They were army cadets on a Rock Climbing Proficiency course.
Having already introduced them to gear placement outdoors, we moved them on to indoor leading. Unlike previous years I've taught this, a couple of cadets found it really difficult to understand what back clipping was. It took half an hour of practising on a line of extenders along the floor to get it. I might make up a knotted rope with quickdraws on to be able to set this out quickly at the start of a session in future.
