Description

There were six of us on this midweek walk. I knew all the participants, and knew that they were all fairly fit with good hillwalking experience. I posted the event on my Meetup group, and warned people that I hadn't actually done this route before. I also specified that participants would need to have hillwalking experience and a good level of fitness, as it was a very long walk (17.5km) with a total ascent of 1302m. Everyone brought suitable hillwalking gear with them, and we all had a very enjoyable day. We went slightly off course after Meall na Aighean, distracted by lovely views to the south, and we had to traverse west for a bit to get back on the path. Apart from that, the day was very enjoyable but uneventful and we all got on very well.

Area : Bridge Of Orchy (Beinn A'chreachain) To Schiehallion

The mountains immediately to the south of Loch Rannoch and to the north of Glen Lyon stretch all the way from Schiehallion (1083m), the birthplace of Charles Hutton’s contour lines, to Beinn Dorain (1076m) near the Bridge of Orchy. There are twelve Munros and a number of other peaks (above 800m) in the mountains list. The peaks to the south of Glen Lyon are included in the Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay area.
