Observing Jamie Vardy (CWLA) during a coaching session whilst he introduces some new members of the Apex Team to lead climbing and taking falls in prep for competitions.
The session started off well and both the athletes in question were making good progress but a sharp fall and landing due to a spinning hold completely shattered all the progress made by one of them and knocked the confidence of the other slightly too. So much so that she was visibly upset and nervous the following week at the prospect of leading.
The trust and confidence had to be built from scratch using different techniques until they were at the level they got to the week before.
A powerful learning lesson for me and Jamie.
