Description

4km + 455m.
This was just to complete a deleted summit as I drove past. Parked in the lay-by off the A9 GR630764 (15.10) and headed straight up the hill. Snow above 750m. Had hoped to come in from Drumochter Lodge but didn't think I'd have much joy crossing the burns. Got to the summit of Meall a' Chaorainn (16.05) and turned tail into the wind and sleet, as dark encroached. The Christmas lights of the cafe in the lay-by were very handy for nav! Back in time to get a brew from the cafe (16.50).

Area : Glen Tromie to Glen Tilt (Beinn Dearg)

This area includes the mountains in the Cairngorms National Park which lie between Glen Tromie in the west and Glen Tilt in the south of the park. The northern boundary is the River Feshie and to the south, the A9. There are four Munros in the area, the tallest being Beinn Dearg at 1008m, and the area is typically made up of peaty plateaux with the occasional pointy peak.
