Description

I put this walk on for my Meetup group, and six of us went. The weather forecast did not look good, but it turned out to be a lovely day. It had been raining a lot, and there was not just bog, but large water holes in the ground once we got off the path and started heading up the hillside. Most of us managed to avoid them, and we enjoyed the views near the top, and the terrain when it became more rocky and less boggy. Although it was mainly pathless, navigation was quite straightforward, and it was easy to find the summit. There was no snow or ice, but there was a very cold wind, and we managed to find a sheltered spot near the top to have lunch. The walk took about six hours, and we all really enjoyed it.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
