A lovely evening with Matt B. and Kim.
Matt & kim are going through lead climbing tuition with Matt P, so tonight was a chance to try out their skills and have me watch them and offer any support.
Whilst not wanting to step on Matt P's toes, I continually asked them what he had taught them, and made sure I wasn't overstepping at any time.
Matt & Kim climb well, but it was obvious they each have areas of knowledge which is slightly lacking - Kim with movement and positioning herself when belaying, and Matt with needing more knowledge on the placement of quickdraws / how to tell if the rope has been clipped correctly. It was a fun night, and ended with me TR'ing a 6a on the slab, with Matt giving it a go to progress his technique, and Kim doing the same but on a different route.
The main learning point on the skills for this TR climb were foot position and use of small features which seem impossible to use.
