Description

I organised this walk for my Meetup group. Seven of us went, and it was a great day. We were very lucky with the weather - cold but sunny and clear, so we had fantastic views. Several people cancelled a couple of days before, because they thought there were going to be high winds, and they didn't believe me when I said that the winds were due to subside by Saturday afternoon. Two of them bitterly regretted cancelling. The snow was not deep, but a bit icy on the plateau, so we used crampons. We took the walk at quite a leisurely pace, but had enough time to enjoy refreshements at House of Bruar after the walk.

Area : Loch Rannoch to Newtonmore (Beinn Udlamain)

This area is listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The Drumochter Hills) and covers the hills and mountains between Loch Rannoch and Newtonmore. Loch Ericht forms the western boundary and Glen Tromie the eastern boundary, with the Pass of Drumochter (the A9 and the Highland Main Line) dividing the area in two. Among the seven Munros in this area, only one is over 1000m (Beinn Udlamain is 1011m).
