I organised this walk for my Meetup group. It's a very popular mountain, and there were 17 of us. We had great conditions with dramatic inversions. I've climbed Ben Venue a couple of times before, but some of the group had not, and were disappointed that we didn't see much of the view over the Trossachs, although the inversions were spectacular. On the way down, I ran down to the point where the routes from Loch Achray and Ledard Farm intersect, as on past walks, people have rushed on ahead and then taken the wrong path, so I felt it was imporant to ensure people were going in the right direction!
Area :
Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)
Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
