Description

Solo walk. Got up early and drove from Aberdeen to start the walk. I had checked the various weather forecasts and had double checked my kit and contents of my rucksack. Due to snow and ice on munro level I had packed my microspikes. Most of the snow had gone with a few patches so in the end I didn't need them. The weather was sunny and visibility was very good. Although there was little wind at the bottom it was fresh and cold at the top of the munros. I set off wearing quite a few layers but soon took them off going as it was quite warm going uphill for the first 6 km. I managed my layers and put one layer back on once at the top. My main was to summit all 4 munros in the circuit. I double checked my bearings beforehand and practiced reading the contours on the map to identify my location. At times I was 100% right and at times I was a little off. I saw a lot of pheasants (male and female) and also a white mountain hare. Towards the end of the walk the clouds came in and the wind picked up. A successful walk and worth getting up early for :)

Area : Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay (Ben Lawers)

This area covers the peaks to the north and east of Crianlarich. Glen Lyon forms the northern boundary while the road from Crianlarich to Aberfeldy is the southern boundary. The Ben Lawers group in the east of this area includes seven separate peaks, all Munros, which are part of an impressive 12km ridge line. The western side of this area is generally lower and not as steep but does still home some a number of Munros. All major peaks above 600m are included in the mountains list. The area to the north is Loch Rannoch to Glen Lyon.
