Description

Looking after two people who were trying ski touring for the first time. We went over the basics of fitting and removing skins, moving on skis etc the previous evening, along with an introduction to avalanche avoidance/safe journey planning and the use of TSP in an emergency.
The following morning, (after a transciever check) we headed out to practice skinning around the boundaries of the ski centre, gradually making our way up to the Ptarmigan restaurant. After a short stop in there to get some respite from the wind, we removed skins and made our way back down, using the Gunbarrel and Zig-zag pistes as conditions off piste were rather icy/crusty.
