Description

The amazing snow cover provided by the 'Beast from the East' also meant it we were snowed in, so I opted to tour from the front door in Milton of Campsie - probably the only time I might lay a skin track from the house! Given the wind direction, the south side of the Campsies looked like they might be a bit sketchy, as I've seen slides big enough to be problematic on the convex slopes behind our house on several occasions. Although the snow had eased, conditions were still pretty wild, with a lot of spindrift blowing about in exposed areas, so I opted to head up through the forest tracks above Lennoxtown, which was good fun, but the soft deep snow did mean that none of the tracks were steep enough to ski back down, which made the descent a bit frustrating.
