Description

Taking a novice friend on a first Munro ascent. The friend has knee issues that make decent very troublsome so we keenly seek out the mountain days with the maximum tolerable up & along & minimum downhill, this day acheived by returning on the funicular. Acent was from the ski car park via Coire an t-Sneachda & the goat track, an explore over the plauteau to not really see Loch Avon and then across Coire Raibert to the Cairngorm summit. The direct to the Ptarmigan.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
