Description

Start from Elterweater CP, access land up Dow Bank, Spedding Crag, Lang How, Swinescar Pike, Little Castle How, Great Castle How, Blea Rigg, then descend North 34 deg to Easedale Tarn, descended below Cockly Tarn and Stenners Crag before turn R to Easedale for road walking towards Grasmere, part way round the water for path towards Hammerscar Plantation, then Huntingstile Crag before descending back to CP. Group of 2 clear, but icy day, great views. Total of 16.3 kms/9.78 miles in 5.25 hours

Area : Central Fells

The Vale of Keswick, provides separation from the Northern Fells whilst to the west runs the long valley of Borrowdale. The parallel eastern boundary is created by Thirlmere and the St Johns in the Vale. Grasmere to Windermere forms the remainder of the eastern boundary. In the west, Stake Pass descends into Great Langdale.
