Description

A top quality winter walking day starting from main road and ascending via Sron Gharbh. Hit the snow line at about 550 metres and walked along the Twisten Path to the summit of An Caisteal. Crampons where put on just before the summit as the ground was very icy and hard. At Bealach Buidhe there was a small scramble that need was frozen with water and care and axes where needed to ascend. Once up on Beinn a'Chroin we descended via the shoulder via The Convention, and back down the valley to the main road. All in all two good hills in fantastic winter weather.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
