Description

From Le Buet walk up the. Berard valley to the Refuge de Pierre a Berard. 6 hour round trip with novice winter hill walker. Trail undulates along river valley through forest of Beech, Larch and Spruce until the tree line when the valley opens up to a wide bowl leading up to the Col de Berard. Mixed conditions on the trail with ice lower down giving way to compacted snow and then good snow above the tree line.
Weather beautiful light snow early on then clear skies. Many animal tracks in fresh snow and a small herd of Red Deer spotted.
