Working with a group of 4 young (<25) Scout leaders who have never been into the mountains before (apart from the previous day). We started from our accommodation at dale head before heading onto Little Stand, and Crinkle Craggs. On this day I got the participants to take more responsibility for the navigation and looked at route choice and decision making while in the mountains .
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
