Description

Solo navigation exercise at Cruachan, a 537m altitude hill just south of Loch Arklet. Terrain was incredibly rough due to high deer fences, lack of sheep or deer tracks and more recent snowfall than expected at this altitude. There were no openable gates or stiles and access was only possible by climbing over the high fences. Very remote and secluded with beautiful views at the top.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
