Beautiful day, did the Ill crag scramble (grade 2/3ish?) practicing rope work for the rocky steps, top 70m frozen and required a walking axe but soft enough to not need crampons. Tops had a hard layer of neve, but did not require crampons or an axe to move across and the blue sky made navigation easy. From the top of Ill crag we bagged Scafell pike but didn't have time to go over to Scafell. Quickly scampered up Great End and then back down into Seathwaite.
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
