Coaching Session - Helping DMM at the Telegraph Outdoor Show for a couple of day running free AMI workshops to members of the public. Ran three 1.5 hour sessions each day on dry tooling and mixed climbing technique on a short artificial wall with a mixture of Foam Panels (for simulating swinging into ice), specific dry tool holds with hooks, thin cracks and traditional climbing wall holds. All climbing was top roped. Groups varied in size from 2-4 people.
Short but sweet sessions, it was possible still to cover most of the basic techniques; swinging into ice (foam), conservation of energy when swinging, pick removal, hooking holds, torquing and stein-pulls. We also discussed leashes and winter ethics on the sessions.
