Black Spout and summits - Lochnagar
Concerned about snow stability I took approached from the North side of Lochnagar observing the cornice collapses that SAIS had predicted on preceding days. The most exposed part was the approach to the gully. Once in the gully was relatively straightforward with a small cornice climb out. A quick and icy journey to Sac Carnivore's Beag before visiting the other summits en-route back.
Area :
Braemar to Montrose (Lochnagar)
Listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The East Mounth: Glen Shee to Mount Keen’, this area includes all of the peaks to the south and east of the A93. Still part of the Cairngorms National Park, these mountains are home to the north facing crags on Lochnagar (1155m) and the most easterly Munro, Mount Keen (939m).
