Description

A Rockhoppers MC trip to Aviemaore. Gale force winds from SSW so we chose a hill we could approach from the north. From Glenmore via Ryvoan we were sheltered from the worst of it almost to the summit. I was persuaded by our Corbett bagger to proceed over the Barns of Bynack to Creag Mhor, which was very much exposed to the the gales. The return to Glenmore for the bus was via Coire Odhar and Ryvoan.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
