Description

Winter guiding day, 1:1 with a client working for Pure Outdoor.
We headed up from the Ciste car park, slowly making our way up the ridge and on to Cairn Gorm through at time deepish snow. Lot's of step kicking for me! Very poor visibility on top. Some massive rime ice features on the posts.
On return journey we looked at a bit of navigation work taking in Cnap Coire na Spreidhe and heading to the top Coire Laogh Mor before skirting back to ridge and down.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
