Description

BMC International Meet.
Very wet day today! Headed to Leacanashie Woods Crag near Lochacarron to sample some drytooling. Routes described in the SMC Scottish Sport Climbs guide. Climbed with a variety of partners today, very busy and social with 2 minibuses of BMC International Meet folk.
Free Trader D3 - about tech 5 Scottish Winter grade, nice climb.
Warm Down D4 - about tech 5 Scottish Winter grade again, very short.
Smuggler D6 - about tech 6 Scottish Winter grade. Pat Cooke very impressively whipped from just below the anchors and nearly landed on his belayer whilst throwing his ice axe at a bystander!
Buccaneer D7 - seconded this one, got it clean second go. Seemed hard, tech 7/8?
Climbed with Alan Mordaunt mostly.

Area : Northern Highlands South (winter)

Extending from Torridon in the north to Knoydart in the south, and including Glen Shiel, Glen Carron and Applecross, Northern Highlands South includes many brilliant winter climbs of all grades and styles. The quartzite cliffs of Beinn Eighe and the corries of Bheinn Bhan have become forcing grounds for modern mixed climbing, while Liathach nearby offers many fine, steep, traditional ice climbs. New winter climbing possibilities are being discovered on the mountains throughout this area on an annual basis.
