Description

Soloed up most of it, dug test pits all the way as bit warm and felt iffy. Temp inversion an nearer the top decided to break out of the gully onto broader more broken ground on left and bring others up on rope. Good decision, not long after a couple of small avalanches from above the gully filtered down and whilst didn't trigger anything bigger could have taken people off their feet.
Climbed with Jill Plummer, John Carr, Sue Back.

Area : Creag Meagaidh, Beinn a' Chaorainn and the Monaliath

The winter climbs of Creag Meagaidh take a while to come into condition, but when they do they provide some of the best ice and steep gully climbs in Scotland, highly prized. This area also includes the popular Beinn a' Chaorainn and the more esoteric opportunities in the Monaliath. In a rare winter ice forms on Creag Dubh Newtonmore, which is also included here.
