2 Night Exped with Ricky and Ollie, which allowed me to test out my load out for the ML assessment Exped, however the weather was far too good (in fact it was far too hot!) and think I will be needing a very different set up next week in Snowdonia!
Set off from Kirkstone pass in the dark, up to Red Screes, for some basic night navigation practice, and found a fantastic camp spot just off the summit which treated us to a beautiful cloud inversion the next morning. A big day followed, culminating in the summit of Helvelyn, where I had to perform minor first aid on my self, damp socks led to a blister on the side of my toe, which was swiftly dealt with. Off down Striding edge, as Ollie and Ricky had never been along it and I had only been up it. From there a slow decent down into Patterdale (and the pub) where we found an acceptable (but far from ideal) camp spot not too far from the village. The next morning there was another cloud inversion, except this time we were inside it. Less than ideal! From hear, with heavy legs, we set off back towards the car.

Far Eastern Fells
Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
