Description

I felt the need to refresh my day and night navigation skills after lockdown, so I did a solo camping trip to Beinn Reoch. It was baking hot and the ground was covered in high bracken so it was exhausting walking up with my tent on my back - with hindsight I'd have been better heading up Beinn Bhreac instead. I camped on the 632m top just to the south east of the summit of Beinn Reoch. I then did some day-into-night navigation, which was helped by a thick mist that descended at dusk.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
