Description

An outing with a Meetup scrambling group. We attempted the Grade 3 scramble of the Stob Ghabhar Aonach Eagach, South East Nose, described in Highland Scrambles South. It starts by heading up a stepped waterfall, but this was too slippy so we walked round it. Only a couple of the group managed the scramble up the south east nose of the "other" Aonach Eagach, and they helped the rest of us up. I think I'd probably manage it better now! From there we summited Stob Ghabhar, and a group of us then summited Stob a'Choire Odhair.

Area : Glen Etive to Glen Lochy

This is the area south of Buachaille Etive Mor as far as the A85 (Tyndrum to Oban road). It includes the peaks around the Glencoe Ski Centre (Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh) alongside eleven other Munros and many other peaks above 600m. Highlights such as Ben Cruachan (1126m) and Stob Ghabhar (1090) remind all-comers that this is an area of high mountains and low glens.
