Description

This was a cold, snowy day with the scrambling Meetup group. We took the rocky route up The Cobbler. I enjoyed climbing up over the rocks, but when we got to the bealach near the summit there was driving snow and I started to feel very tired. I was still very unfit, due to my underactive thyroid. About 5 mins from the summit, I told the others I couldn't make it, and that I would wait for them to return. They sensibly cajoled me into continuing. I started to feel better, and we enjoyed bumslides on the way back down.

Area : Loch Fyne to Loch Long (Beinn an Lochain)

South of the A83 as far as Dunoon and sandwiched in between Loch Fyne and Loch Long are a number of peaks, none of which qualify for Munro status. The southern half of the Arrochar Alps includes Beinn an Lochain, which at 901m was wrongly included in Sir Hugh Munro’s original list of 3000ft peaks in Scotland. The mountains list contains all peaks above 600m.
